Nicola Sala Benevento Jazz Orchestra

The Nicola Sala Benevento Jazz Orchestra has been active for about ten years in Campania and Italy with numerous projects of artistic and educational interest in the pop-jazz field. It was directed by important masters of the Italian music scene and has collaborated with numerous artists. To be remembered in particular the masters Aldo Bassi, Gianluca Podio, Roberto Spadoni, Ferruccio Corsi and the current conductor Franco Piana (trumpet player, arranger of the orchestra of RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana).

Among the artists Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Max Ionata, Sarah Jane Morris with whom the Orchestra has created repertoires dedicated to composers and authors of international fame such as George Gershwin (jazzy rework of Rhapsody in blue), Pino Daniele, Armando Trovajoli, Lucio Battisti and the same Sarah Jane Morris.

The orchestra is made up of students and teachers from the Conservatory of Music Nicola Sala, excellence in the field of Italian institutions of higher education. It also sees the participation of former students and external soloists. The current project "La voglia, La pazzia, L’incoscienza, L’allegria” is a jazz reinterpretation of the Songbook of light music and the Italian author’s song, which has seen extraordinary interpreters such as Domenico Modugno, Mina, Ornella Vanoni, and great songwriters who have written timeless musical pages such as Fabrizio De Andrè, Paolo Conte, Luigi Tenco, Lucio Battisti, Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele, Gino Paoli; among the pieces of the repertoire, there will be famous songs all over the world like "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (Volare), "Caruso", “Quando, quando, quando”, “Via con me", "Azzurro", etc.

The supervisor is M ° Ferruccio Corsi assisted by M ° Costanza Alegiani. The other teachers involved are the Masters De Lorenzo, Gazzani, Franceschelli, Salsone, Serio, Amato and Francini. The orchestra has many talented solo students, vocalists and woodwinds.
