Alto
saxophonist Tevet Sela brings a wealth and breadth of influences to his playing
that few musicians possess. The adept and dexterous post bopper’s music is
often drenched in blues, klezmer and Middle-Eastern inflections. His music is
full of wisdom, emotion and storytelling.
Since
moving to Montreal in 2010, Tevet quickly became a prominent figure in the
vibrant Canadian jazz scene. His albums gain raving reviews and much airplay:
'Tevet Sela' 2003, 'Coming True' 2007, ‘Jazz Flute’ 2010, ’Lying Sun' 2014,
‘The River’ 2017, ‘Mizmor’ 2019, ‘Live at The Rex’ 2023 and ‘Sweet Tears’ 2024.
For
over two decades, Tevet has performed in countless international jazz festivals
and venues, and was nominated for both the '’TD Grand Jazz award’' and the
'’Prix Opus'’ in the category ‘'Jazz concert of the year’'.
